As Family Medicine physicians have a passion for getting to know our patients, learning to meet them where they are and helping them identify and take the next steps in improving their health, so do the faculty at the VTC Family Medicine Residency program have the passion for developing our residents.
Through the process of our residency training program, resident coaching and deliberate reflection, we guide our residents in discovering their passions within Family Medicine and help them develop the skills needed for future practice in outpatient medicine, hospitalist medicine or fellowship training. Our goal is to train well-rounded, resilient physicians who thrive in practice and provide excellent care to the patients and communities they serve.
Beginning October 1st, we are excited to welcome Dr. Priscilla Tu as our Program Director. Dr. Tu has served as Carilion Clinic–Virginia Tech Carilion’s Family Medicine Associate Program Director for eight years and Director of Osteopathic Education for tweleve years. Dr. Mary Beth Sweet will transition to Associate Program Director.
Virginia Tech Partnership
Residents and fellows work closely with the students, medical educators, and research scientists from the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at VTC. This partnership leverages Virginia Tech’s world-class strength in basic sciences, bioinformatics and engineering with Carilion Clinic’s highly experienced medical staff and rich history in graduate medical education.
