Designated Institutional Official

My professional identity is a medical educator who cares for the medically underserved. I served as an OB/GYN Program Director at the University of Cincinnati and a Designated Institutional Official at Mountain Area Health Education Center in Asheville, North Carolina prior to coming to Carilion Clinic. My academic interests are faculty development, evidence-based medicine, transitions in medical education and quality of maternal care. As a specialist in general obstetrics and gynecology, my clinical practice has always focused on medically underserved populations with support through health departments, Federally Qualified Health Centers, and Veterans Affairs Medical Centers. My current clinical duties are inpatient obstetrics and the care of perinatal substance use disorder. Carilion has allowed me to explore all my interests which is what I hope happens for our residents and fellows.
