Mission, Goals, and Strengths

The Carilion Clinic-Virginia Tech Carilion Critical Care Medicine Fellowship is fundamentally committed to the creation of superior clinician leaders. We train fellows in bedside delivery of critical care utilizing modern technologies and state of the art procedural areas to deliver exceptional care to the most critically ill patients. Our fellows provide care to patients across our 84 critical care beds and are trained in a vast array of bedside procedures including percutaneous tracheostomy, large bore tube thoracostomy and advanced intubation. Our goal is to produce trainees who are knowledgeable and continue to better themselves, the field of medicine and its subspecialties as a whole in the hopes of providing the utmost quality of care to each and every patient they treat and society at large.

• All individuals in Southwest Virginia, and bordering states of West Virginia and North Carolina.

Teaching Opportunities

• The program offers a wide variety of teaching opportunities with residents, medical students, visiting residents and physician assistant (PA) students.
