Dr. Dorsey
Susan Dorsey, MD
Dr. Susan Dorsey completed medical school at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1987. This was followed by a PGY1 year and internal medicine at Carilion-Roanoke Memorial Hospital. From 1988-1990 she was postdoctoral fellow at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in the dermatology division. During that time, she worked with Dr. Darrel Ellis working on studies involving epidermal growth factors and metallic proteinases.

From 1992-1993 she was a dermatology resident at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. In 1993 she came to Roanoke Virginia to begin the private practice of dermatology. She saw patients of all ages for general dermatology conditions including skin cancers. In 2018 she joined Carilion and Mohs surgery division where she has practiced ever since. She enjoys practicing medicine in the Roanoke Valley.

Kiley Fagan
Kiley Fagan M.D.
Dr. Fagan attended medical school at the Medical College of Georgia and completed her dermatology residency here at Carilion Clinic. She then completed her dermatopathology fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. Dr. Fagan practices both general dermatology and dermatopathology. She enjoys the outdoors including hiking with her fiancé and two dogs.

Karla C. Guerra D.O.
Dr. Guerra attended Campbell University School of Medicine and attended LewisGale Hospital- Montgomery. Dr. Guerra has a passion for cosmetics and general dermatology. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, gardening and her beautiful family!

Dr. Holcomb
Zachary E. Holcomb, M.D., Associate Program Director
Zachary E. Holcomb, M.D., was born and raised in southwest Virginia. He attended Duke University School of Medicine, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Holcomb enjoys academic medicine and has a special interest in medical education. He currently serves as the Associate Program Director for the dermatology residency program at Carilion Clinic. He is committed to providing excellent, personalized care and looks forward to working to find the best treatment plans for all his patients.

Dr. Grider
Douglas Grider, M.D.
Dr. Grider completed medical school at the Edward F. Hebert School of Medicine, Uniformed Services University, Bethesda, Maryland, followed by a pathology residency at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas. He completed an anatomic pathology fellowship during his last year of residency, and he later went on to complete both a gastrointestinal pathology fellowship and a dermatopathology fellowship at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Washington D.C. After a 24-year U.S. Air Force career wandering the globe, Dr. Grider settled in the Roanoke valley and became the founding Director of Dermatopathology, Carilion Clinic Dermatology Residency. He is currently an associate professor and vice chair, Department of Basic Science Education, Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. Dr. Grider is well known for teaching and mentoring medical students and dermatology residents.

Nate Johnson
Nathan Johnson, M.D.
Dr. Johnson practices general dermatology and serves as an associate professor at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. He completed his medical school, internship, and dermatology residency at Virginia Tech Carilion/Carilion Clinic. He spent several years in private practice in Arkansas before returning to Roanoke and VTC/Carilion Clinic in 2024. Dr. Johnson's interest areas include the full spectrum of general medical and surgical dermatology. He enjoys piano, mountain biking, fitness, and, most of all, spending time with his wonderful family.

Dr. Phillips
Mariana Phillips M.D.
Mariana A. Phillips, MD, is an associate professor of medicine at the Virginia Tech Carilion Clinic School of Medicine. She completed her dermatology residency at VCU Medical Center and subsequently completed a one-year fellowship in procedural dermatology and Mohs surgery at VCU. Dr. Phillips commitment to academic medicine began early in her career. In her free time, Dr. Phillips enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. Her hobbies include arts and crafts, gardening, and oil painting.

Dr. Prickett
Kyle A. Prickett M.D.
Kyle A. Prickett, M.D., is an assistant professor of Medicine at the Virginia Tech Carilion Clinic School of Medicine. Dr. Prickett completed his dermatology residency at Geisinger Medical Center and served as chief resident during his final year. He subsequently completed a fellowship in micrographic (Mohs) surgery and dermatologic oncology at Geisinger Medical Center. Dr. Prickett is board certified in both dermatology and micrographic dermatologic (Mohs) surgery by the American Board of Dermatology and is a member of the American College of Moh's surgery.

Howard Pride, M.D.
Dr. Howard Pride recently worked for Geisinger Medical Center. Dr. Pride specializes in Pediatric Dermatology, and recently joined us as a faculty member with the Dermatology Residency.

Eugenie Quan
Eugenie Quan M.D.
Dr. Quan graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. She completed her internship at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, and recently graduated from Carilion Dermatology. Dr. Quan enjoys traveling, the outdoors and hiking!

Dr. Rush
Patrick Rush- Pathologist
Dr. Patrick S. Rush, DO attended medical school at WVSOM in Lewisburg, WV, and a one-year post-sophomore fellowship in Pathology. Following medical school, Dr. Rush completed residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at the University of Wisconsin where he served as chief resident. He subsequently completed fellowship in Dermatopathology at the Harvard combined program. He has served as treasurer and board member with the Virginia Dermatology Society, and currently is the Director of Dermatopathology at Carilion Clinic. Dr. Rush is passionate about Dermatopathology and is committed to providing the residents with the best well rounded Dermatopathology experience possible through excellent patient care.

Philip E. Wakefield M.D., Program Director
Dr. Wakefield attended the University of Virginia and completed residency at Walter Reed Medical Center. He specializes in Dermatology.
