Dr. John F. Camp, Jr. is an Assistant Professor at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and is an accomplished pediatric and cardiovascular anesthesiologist with extensive experience spanning academic, community, and large health‑system settings. Within Carilion Clinic, Dr. Camp has held multiple leadership positions, including Section Chief for Pediatric Anesthesiology, Chief and Vice Chief of the Department of Anesthesia, and Treasurer for the Organized Medical Staff at Carilion Medical Center. Dr. Camp’s clinical expertise includes pediatric anesthesiology, adult and congenital cardiac anesthesia, and advanced perioperative transesophageal echocardiography.
He maintains active membership in the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists, the Society for Pediatric Anesthesia, the Congenital Cardiac Anesthesia Society, and the Virginia Society of Anesthesiologists. Outside of the hospital, he likes spending time with family and reading.

Dr. Julie Joseph is a board-certified anesthesiologist and Fellow of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, serving as an Assistant Professor at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. Her leadership experience includes serving as Chief and Vice Chief of the Department of Anesthesia for the Organized Medical Staff at Carilion Medical Center. Dr. Joseph is Section Chief for Obstetric Anesthesiology and contributes broadly to Carilion Clinic committees, including roles on the OB Hemorrhage Committee, Women’s Clinical Practice Committee, Surgical Services Quality Council, and ERAS Reboot Committee. Her academic contributions include peer‑reviewed publications covering topics such as anesthetic management in thoracic surgery, airway management challenges, neonatal perioperative care, and randomized clinical trials evaluating anesthetic techniques. She has academic interests in perioperative outcomes and airway management.
Dr. Joseph participates in medical mission work, including a 2023 trip to Honduras. She maintains active membership in the American Society of Anesthesiologists and Virginia Society of Anesthesiologists. In her spare time, she likes to watch her daughters play basketball, hike, work out, and entrepreneurship.

Dr. Kazemi is an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and serves as the Section Chief for Regional Anesthesiology. Dr. Kazemi is actively involved in clinical research and currently serves as Director of Clinical Research for the Department. His collaborative projects span orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, general surgery, and perioperative care optimization. He has authored peer‑reviewed publications in areas including regional anesthesia, simulated training, cognitive load in clinical settings, and perioperative pain management. He is also engaged in global health and medical service through annual mission work in the Dominican Republic.
Dr. Kazemi maintains active involvement in professional societies, including the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the Virginia Society of Anesthesiologists, where he serves as Regional Director for Southwest Virginia, and has represented Virginia in the American Society of Anesthesiologists House of Delegates. In his spare time, he likes to hike, cycle, meditate and read Persian poetry, history, and philosophy.

His professional interests include regional anesthesia, workflow optimization, and multimodal analgesia. Dr. Schwamb is an Assistant Professor at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and is the Director of the Anesthesia “Boot Camp” rotation. His broad background in trauma management, high‑acuity clinical care, regional anesthesia, and medical education enriches his clinical practice. He continues to advance his perioperative ultrasound expertise with ongoing work towards the American Society of Anesthesiologists point of care ultrasound certification. Dr. Thompson remains committed to professional growth with scholarly activity which includes presentations on malignant hyperthermia recognition, trauma case management, cardiopulmonary pathology, and subdural catheter complications. He is deeply involved in the Anesthesiology Students’ Interest Groups for all regional medical schools, where he supports student mentorship, career development, and educational engagement for learners interested in anesthesiology.
