Dermatology Residency

Training in our Dermatology Residency includes medical and procedural dermatology clinics, Mohs surgery, pediatric dermatology and dermatopathology at the Carilion Riverside and Franklin Road dermatology offices. Residents also perform inpatient consults at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. 

Our curriculum consists of weekly medical dermatology, pediatric dermatology, and dermatopathology didactics composed of both faculty and resident driven lectures. We also host regular kodachrome sessions (unknown slide reviews), monthly surgery didactics, monthly journal clubs, and quarterly grand rounds. Research time is variable dependent on year in residency. 

Each resident has their own dedicated continuity clinic schedule each year. Resident continuity clinics provide the residents the opportunity to follow patients longitudinally throughout the three-year training program. 

The residents also have the opportunity to participate in our remote teleconsult service.
