What are your career interests?
I fell in love with Roanoke when I was on my away rotation here during fourth year of medical school. Carilion serves many rural and underserved patients, and I hope to work with this patient population throughout my career.
Why did you choose VA Tech Carilion Clinic for residency training?
First and foremost, the people drew me to Carilion. Our faculty is not only knowledgeable, but they are kind and genuinely invested in the education of their residents. The patients are awesome, too. We serve a very diverse patient population who are genuinely grateful for the care we provide. I also love living in Roanoke. My husband and I enjoy the beautiful outdoors every chance we can, and it's a laid back and lovely city to raise a family.

What are your career interests?
Great question! Somewhat TBD. Currently, I envision myself pursuing general dermatology with a goal to stay in academic medicine. However, I look forward to seeing if this evolves at all through residency training.
Why did you choose VA Tech Carilion Clinic for residency training?
Have confidence no matter where you end up, you will get a solid education and foundation to be a great dermatologist. However, I ranked Carilion based on factors outside of education alone. I wanted to surround myself with people who will invest in me and challenge me to be better not only as a doctor but as a person. The faculty here are outstanding and have created a really special atmosphere that I found unique. Additionally, having fellowship trained Mohs surgeons, Dermatopathologist, and Pediatric Dermatologist with other faculty focusing on complex Rheum-Derm, I don’t think there is a discipline that is lacking. If interests are desired that Carilion does not offer, we have full support from the faculty to pursue those. Location was also a pull as the active environment of Roanoke makes it easy to pursue hobbies and enjoy free time outside of work! Always happy to chat to help answer specific questions should any arise. Thanks for checking us out, you won’t regret it.

What are your career interests?

General dermatology, acne, vulvar dermatoses, hidradenitis suppurativa, and pediatric dermatology!

Why did you choose VA Tech Carilion Clinic for residency training?

I was drawn to the resident-centered curriculum, which features a robust continuity clinic, allowing residents to fully engage in patient care and develop strong longitudinal relationships. I was also drawn to the strong sense of community, both within the department and in Roanoke itself, as well as the diversity of our patient population. I appreciate that our program offers excellent exposure to general dermatology and procedures in addition to specialty clinics such as pediatric dermatology and complex medical dermatology. Lastly, I am excited for the many opportunities to engage in research, advocacy and mentorship.
