Curriculum

The Virginia Tech Carilion Internal Medicine Residency program offers a broad based curriculum. The Categorical Track provides core inpatient and critical care rotations, along with ample opportunities for elective and ambulatory rotations. The Preliminary Track curriculum is individually crafted to align with the resident's advanced field of training.  All residents are assigned to a faculty advisor who works 1-on-1 with them throughout their residency training. Residents may also identify a self-chosen mentor during the residency to advance specific professional development goals.

Sim
Our residents participate in a longitudinal simulation and ultrasound curriculum. As part of the Health Disparity Curriculum, ambulatory clinic first year residents work at the Bradley Free Clinic and rotate through the Rescue Mission Clinic. During the third year, residents attend a Board Review course, which is an intense five-day board review series taught by subspecialty physicians utilizing MKSAP Board Basics as a template.
