Curriculum

Curriculum

Our fellowship training curriculum includes:

  • Consultative clinical care
  • Didactic core curriculum (see below)
  • Continuity care of acute and chronic infectious diseases ,including:
    • HIV/AIDS
    • Hepatitis C
    • Outpatient antimicrobial therapy (OPAT)
  • Research – clinical and quality-driven
Didactic Sessions

The program has structured weekly didactic sessions, including:

  • Case Conference
  • Presentation of current research
  • Journal club
  • Antibiotic subcommittee
  • Core lecture series that includes various infectious disease topics
  • Board review
BLOCK SCHEDULE

PGY4 Block Schedule

8-9 blocks of inpatient ID consults
4 blocks of clinical research and/or education
Weekly half-day ID continuity clinic
Biweekly travel clinic when not on consult services

PGY5 Block Schedule

4-5 blocks of inpatient ID consults
7-8 blocks of clinical research and/or education
UVA Transplant Consultation Service
Weekly half-day ID continuity clinic
Biweekly travel clinic when not on consult services or at UVA

*PGY5 Block Schedule is according to fellow needs and desires.
