Quick facts about our program:
- Program Size: 16 residents (4 per academic year)
- Population Served: Diverse patient population, including local refugee community.
- Teaching Opportunities: Residents have the opportunity to work with medical students and have an important role in bedside teaching.
- Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital (CRMH) serves as the only major referral center in the area, having the largest and most experienced maternity center and neonatal intensive care unit in Southwest Virginia. This gives our residents a robust surgical volume and high-risk obstetrical training experience.
Our program offers comprehensive training at a large, tertiary/quaternary hospital affiliated with the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. Residents benefit from a diverse patient population and have exposure to all of the subspecialties:
- Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery
- Gynecologic Oncology
- Maternal Fetal Medicine
- Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery
- Reproductive Endocrinology and Fertility

- Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital has a catchment area of 6,000 square miles with a population of 1.5 million. CRMH serves as the main teaching site for our residency program.
