Program Description

• Four-year program with four per PGY level
• Large, tertiary referral center
• University program affiliated with Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine
• Subspecialty faculty with large generalist division

• Comprehensive gynecological surgical volume including laparoscopic, vaginal, and robotic training

• We have 13 block rotations each year (28 days each).
• PGY 1: 4 OB, 3 Night float, 4 GYN, 1 Ultrasound, 1 GYN ONC
• PGY 2: 3 OB, 2 Night float, 1 GYN, 1 Urogyn, 1 REI, 1 Family planning, 3 GYN ONC, 1 MFM
• PGY 3: 3 OB, 2 Night float, 3 GYN, 2 Urogyn, 1 REI, 1 MFM, 1 Elective
• PGY 4: 2 OB, 2 Night float, 1 MFM, 3 GYN, 1 Urogyn/Family Planning, 3 GYN ONC, 1 Float

Throughout the year our residents participate in simulations at our beautiful, state of the art, simulation facility. Below are some of the simulations we hold:

• Operative vaginal delivery
• Cerclage
• Cadaver lab (pelvic anatomy and hysterectomy)
